Designated Hazardous
Substance Inspections
In Canada, Designated Hazardous Substances (DHS) are commonly found in buildings that generally pre-date 1978, and typically include materials such as acrylonitrile, arsenic, asbestos, benzene, coke oven emissions, ethylene oxide, isocyanates, lead, mercury, silica, and vinyl chloride.​

DHS are required to be identified and managed appropriately for due diligence, occupant health and safety, or for demolition permit requirements. AiMS Environmental’s highly experienced DHS Inspectors conduct building inspections and bulk sampling surveys along the lines of the Occupational Health and Safety Act to identify any potential hazardous building materials.
